As part of the upcoming Crescendo network upgrade on the Flow Blockchain, all Cadence fungible tokens will be ERC-20 compatible, and all ERC-20 compatible tokens on Flow can be used in Cadence smart contracts without special handling. This will ensure that all Flow applications – whether they are built with Solidity, Cadence, or some mix of both – are fully interoperable with the wider web3 ecosystem. That means anything that you collect or own on either chain can seamlessly be transferred between both networks.
Due to the network changes required for this upgrade, Circle in collaboration with both Dapper Labs and the Flow Foundation will discontinue support for USDC on Cadence effective 12am PT, September 3, 2024.
For the vast majority of Dapper Wallet users, your balances are not impacted by this news and no action is needed. Dapper Balance continues to be backed 1 for 1 by Circle USDC. There are no changes to the Dapper Labs & Circle partnership.
If you are directly holding USDC on Flow or FLOW coin in your Dapper Wallet, you will receive an email outreach today informing you that you will need to follow the instructions below.
Here is what you need to know for a smooth transition of your assets ahead of the September 3 milestone:
